What is the Design Process at Trinity Design?

The design process is a series of 5 steps the graphic design follows to bring design ideas to life.

It outlines the client details, the project objectives, their target audiences and any specific requirements. It is the foundation of our projects and is designed to streamline Trinity’s production workflow.

Having a structured design process is essential in gaining a scope of the work required. It keeps the lines of communication between designer and clients open, allowing the designer to create high-quality design ideas, while meeting the clients’ requirements and goals for the project.

Here are the five Steps of our Design Process:

1. Project Brief & Connect:

A meeting is held between the designer and the client, and a creative brief is written to gain an understanding of what are the project requirements. A series of relevant questions are asked, allowing the designer to learn a general scope of the project objectives and specific requests.

***Budget expectations and payment options will be discussed at this stage, and an initial payment of 50% of the Quoted price will be required before the project can proceed to Stage 2.

2. Research & Development:

This stage gives the designer a more in-depth understanding of the project objectives and goals.

We will research the clients’ company including their products/services; who is their target audience and competitors, and what design strategies and layouts work and do not work. This stage will also help to inspire new design ideas to creating innovative layouts for this specific project.

3. Brainstorm & Design Concepts:

This stage is where our designers’ creative skills really flow.

A thorough search online at other design ideas for motivation and inspiration, the use of colours and typography researched, and what imagery and graphics used is a great start to any project.

Progressing from there, a series of hand-drawn sketches and mock-ups are created, and brilliant and innovative design concepts emerge.

Our designer will then produce some design concepts (usually 2-3 designs) onto the computer using the relevant software.

4. Present & Review:

The design concepts and ideas are presented to the client for review.

It is here our designer loves to wow and exceed the clients’ expectations.

2-3 design concepts are presented to the client; this offers the client choices.

Through their feedback and input in the chosen layouts, the designer can refine the designs. Some clients may like elements of each of the design concepts, so merging of ideas are an option.

5. Finalised Design & Delivery:

This stage of the process may take some time and can be reviewed until a satisfactory design emerges.

We allow 2-3 revisions only to determine a finalised design layout, meeting the project expectations and clients’ goals.

Once the finalised design is signed-off and approved; the digital files will be forwarded to the client in the requested file formats, including any variations needed. If printing is included in the project requirements, the relevant files will be sent to our printer and the required time will be factored in to accommodate the printing of the final product. The printed product will then be presented to our clients in high-quality packaging, meeting our clients’ expectations.

The Design Process is very beneficial for both our designer and the client. It allows effective communication and sets clear expectations on the project.

We will provide regular updates at different stages of the process, ensuring the project objects and clients requested are adhered to
